| Description: |
The E.1/44 resulted from a proposal put up by Glosters in January 1942, for a single-engined jet aircraft. In the event, the first protoype did not take to the air until 1947.
By that time, the twin-engine Gloster Meteor was fully developed and was regarded as having more development potential (and appeared as the first scale model for Jetex in Aeromodeller in 1948). Development of the E.1/44 was stopped in 1949. |
